Sales Rep Unable to Setup New Reminders in the Reminders Portlet

User is using custom Sales Person role. Sales Person Role has permission to Lead Snapshot/Reminders. However, in the Reminders portlet of the sales person, the Set Up icon is not available.

This would happen if the role is using a published dashboard. Dashboard was published to the role with mode set to Locked.

To verify if the role is using a published dashboard, perform the steps below (Administrator role is required):

1. Navigate to Setup > Users/Roles > Manage Roles.

2. Edit the custom sales person role.

3. Click the Dashboard tab.

4. The Published Dashboard field shows the dashboard published to the role.

Note: This field can't be modified from this window.


There are two ways to resolve this:

1. Republish the Dashboard to the role

2. Modify the custom role to give it permission to publish dashboard


Option One: Republish the dashboard.

Tabs and modes can not be modified for existing published dashboards. User using a Published Dashboards with mode set to Locked or Add/Move content cannot add/remove/modify published content. Republishing the Dashboard with Override existing user's settings enabled and mode set to Unlocked will make the Set Up link available to the role.

Before proceeding with the steps, take note of the following:

  • User can only publish a dashboard to roles that tie to the same center (e.g. Sales Center)
  • If the Override existing user's settings checkbox is checked, the personal settings of existing users assigned to the role will be replaced with the published dashboard. If this box is cleared, only users newly assigned to the role will view the published dashboard


1. Login as a user with permission to publish dashboard (e.g. Sales Manager).

2. Click the Home tab.

3. In the Settings portlet, click Publish Dashboard.

4. Provide a Name.

5. In the Apply To Roles tab, select the sales person role.

6. Check Override existing user's settings.

7. Click Add.

8. Click Apply To Tabs.

9. Check Apply for the Home tab.

10. Select Unlocked for the Mode.

11. Click Save.


Option Two: Modify the custom role to give it permission to publish dashboard.

To make the Set Up link appears in the Reminders portlet without affecting existing published dashboard, perform the following steps:

1. Login as Administrator.

2. Navigate to Setup > Users/Roles > Manage Roles.

3. Edit Sales Person role.

4. Click the Permissions tab.

5. In the Setup subtab, add Publish Dashboards.

6. Set Level to Full.

7. Click Save.

Note: Roles with Publish Dashboards permission can publish dashboards to other users, designated by role.
