NetSuite Web Store owners can allow International shoppers to checkout with no shipping cost which will be quoted after the order has been submitted.
The idea is to create a Zero cost shipping available only to International shoppers and add a message that international customers will be charged for shipping cost afterwards. Here are the steps:
A. Prepare the shipping item
1. Navigate to Lists> Accounting> Shipping Items> New
2. In the Shipping Rate tab set a Flat Rate of zero
3. In the Shipping and Handling Rules tab, restrict the shipping item to International countries only
4. Save the Shipping Item
B. Change the Free message
1. Navigate to Setup> Site Builder > Customize Text> Messages tab
2. Look for the 'Free!' text
NOTE: There are two instances of Free in the Messages tab of the Customized Text page. The one that needs update is the Default text that doesn't have the bold tag or <></b>. It should be the one that doesn't have HTML tag.
3. Set the desired message in the Customization field
4. Click on Save
C. Add a Message in the Shopping Cart
1. Navigate to Lists> Web Site> Tabs
2. Edit Shopping Cart
3. You can add a Greeting (displays at the top) or a Message (at the bottom) in the item table
4. Click on Save
D. Add a Message in the Review and Submit Page
1. Navigate to Lists> Web Site> Tabs
2. Edit Checkout
3. Put your message in the 'Place Order Page Message' (Review and Submit Page) or 'Order Confirmation Message' (Thank You Page)
4. Click on Save
After this set up, the merchant can do the quotation in the backend and just contact the customer regarding the additional shipping charge. Please be reminded that you need to be clear in the message you will be placing in the Shopping Cart and Review and Submit pages where international shoppers will be asked for shipping cost after it has been quoted. Changes that will be done in the sales order will be modified internally since there will be additional charges.
