Users can create estimates either on the fly (Transactions > Sales > Prepare Estimates) or from an opportunity (Sales tab > Estimates subtab > New Estimate).
When creating estimates on the fly, user can manually associate an opportunity by populating the Opportunity field under the Sales Information section of the form.
If the user accidentally selects the wrong opportunity and saves the estimate, the link to both records can no longer be removed (Opportunity field become grayed out).
As an alternate solution, user may use the Make Copy function to recreate the estimate:
1. View the estimate record.
2. Under Actions dropdown, select Make Copy.
3. Select the correct opportunity in the Opportunity field.
4. Click Save.
5. Edit the original estimate record and delete it.
Note:
This alternate solution does not apply to estimates that are already applied to other sales transactions.
