Scenario:
You would like to give 10% Discount on all webstore items except for items under Gadgets Category.
Solution:
Use Advanced Promotions Bundle to create an Item-Based Promotions that exclude all items on a specified Item (webstore) Category from a 10% Discount Promo Code
I. Create Item Saved Search
1. Navigate to Lists > Search > Saved Searches > New
2. Select Item as Search Type
3. Enter value for Search Title
4. Mark the following fields:
*Public
*Available as List View
5. Under Criteria tab > Standard sub tab, add the following filters:
Category = None Of XXX
*Replace XXX for the webstore category
6. Under Results tab > Columns sub tab add fields as necessary
7. Click Save and Run
This should show all webstore items except for items under Category specified in Step 5.
II. Create Discount Item
1. Navigate to Lists > Accounting > Items > New
2. Select Discount as Item Type
3. Enter value for Item Name/Number. For example: 10% Discount
4. Enter value for Display Name/Code and Description.
5. Enter Discount Rate (%) under Rate field. For example 10.00%
Note: A percentage discount must be followed by a % sign.
6. Under Accounting tab > Account field, select appropriate Account.
For example: Sales Discounts
7. Mark Apply Before Sales Tax field
Note: Check this box to apply this markup or discount before taxes are calculated.
Important: This option is only for use in countries that levy sales tax; for example, the United States. It is not intended and is not available for use for countries that use value-added tax (VAT), such as the United Kingdom (UK), Countries that have VAT should always apply the discount before tax.
8. Click Save.
III. Create Item-Based Promotions
1. Navigate to Lists > Marketing > Promotions > New
2. Select Item-Based Promotions as Promotion Type
3. Enter code on Promotion code field. For example: 10PERCENTOFF
4. Enter Description, Start Date and End Date as necessary
5. Select Discount Item created from Step II
6. Highlight your Webstore under Site field
Since this promotion is available to all customers and is eligible on all orders, no changes are needed on the Eligibility subtab.
7. Choose Select Saved Search under Discount tab > Add Item Discount field to choose an existing item saved search that includes the items you are offering a discount on.
8. Select the Item Saved Search created in Step I
9. Enter 10 % under Promotional Offer field to enter the discount percentage for the items you selected.
Optional:
Limit - Enter the maximum number (units) of items you are offering the discount on.
Up to a Total Discount Of - Enter the maximum discount amount available through this promotion.
10. Click Save.
Now, when a customer places an order with this promotion code, they receive a 10% discount on all webstore items except for items under Category specified in Step I-5.
Great help, does this also work for monetary off? E.g. £10 off when you spend £20.
