Unable to Edit and Save Location Due to Error "The subsidiary restrictions on this record are incompatible with those defined for item: xxx...".

In NetSuite OneWorld, if a user tries to rename a Location that is assigned as the Preferred Location to a specific Item record they may receive the notice:

"The subsidiary restrictions on this record are incompatible with those defined for item: xxx. Subsidiary access on this record must be a superset of those permitted by the item." may prompt.

To be able to rename the Location, perform the following:

1. Unassign Location on Items.
   • Navigate to Lists > Mass Update > Mass Updates.
   • Click General Updates.
   • Click Inventory Item link.
   • On Criteria tab, set Filter to Preferred Location = is any of (Location to be renamed).
   • Click Mass Update Fields tab.
   • Mark Apply box next to Preferred Location and set the value to blank.
   • Click Preview.
   • Click Perform Update.
2. Change the Location Name.
   • Navigate to Setup > Company > Location.
   • Click Edit next to the Location to be renamed.
   • Rename Location.
   • Click Save.
3. To re-update the same items, users may do so via CSV import. To re-update, perform the following:
   • Navigate to Lists > Search > Saved Searches.
   • Click Item.
   • On Criteria tab and Standard subtab, select Preferred Location = (Location Renamed).
   • On Results tab and Columns subtab, add Preferred Location field.
   • Click Preview button.
   • Click Export - CSV button.
   • Click Save.
   • Perform the CSV Import using the Saved Search.
