Tax Refunds/Credits due to Overpayment of taxes for Premier Payroll User

Overpayment of tax liabilities usually happens when there are double filings of return for Premier Payroll users who undergone transition within a taxable year or when the rate used for Unemployment Taxes is greater than the correct rate.

The IRS and State tax agencies are responsible in issuing the refunds to the Premier payroll users. They will process the returns and will send a letter explaining the refund or credit. However, these refunds may be applied to other non-tax liabilities to the agencies first before issuing it to the taxpayer (premier payroll user).

Ceridian will only refund the amounts if all tax payments are collected and returns are rejected by the agencies. This usually happens when the Account numbers are not properly set up in the NetSuite system via user's interface, etc.

If this is the case, a credit to the User's account will be given and will be reported in their Quarterly Tax Package which is uploaded to their Hightail account within 5-6 weeks after the end of the quarter.
