If the webstore is hosted overseas (not hostedin China),there is no need to apply for an ICP license. Also, Netsuite does not handlethe process of getting ICP license in China. In fact, there is no way toapply for it (as during the submission, there is a need to specify theprovider, which should be in the ministry of information database, and which inmost cases is Chinabased)
By definition, all webstores hosted on aChinese server are required to register for an internet content provider (ICP)license. It is basically a permit issued by the Chinese Ministry of Industryand Information Technology that is needed to operate a webstore in mainland China. The licensecan be obtained through a simple registration at www.miibeian.gov.cn , where relevantinformation about the webstore owner, its content, the hosting provider etc.needs to be provided.
Other useful facts about the ICP license:
-ICP licenses are not a guarantee that the webstore won't be blocked.
-Without an ICP license, the webstore can betaken down anytime. If hosted in China, your site can be trackeddown to its host who can be instructed to take the site down if itsregistration doesn't appear in the ICP database.
-Applications done entirely using overseasaddresses and contact persons have, to our knowledge, always been denied.
-It is illegal to operate a webstore in China withoutan ICP license. Hosting companies are required to shut down webstores which donot obtain an ICP license within a certain period of going live, although thisis loosely enforced.
-The ICP registration is free, although somehosts would charge you for it.
